At Fusion Global, we love exploring the places where heaven and earth meet — where the Scriptures reveal the divine patterns that connect the Old and the New. Rabbi Jason Sobel’s newest book, Transformed by the Messiah: How Old and New Testament Jesus Connections Reveal God’s Intentional Story for Your Life, shows that Yeshua’s life was not random or reactionary; it was a revelation of what God has always intended for His people.
This three-part blog series features excerpts from Transformed by the Messiah, tracing the Messiah’s birth, life, and death — revealing a single, continuous story of redemption. In our first article, we explored His birth and how it bound God to both humanity and Israel forever.
Now, in Part 2, we look at His life — and one breathtaking moment that reveals not only who He is, but who we are destined to become.
The Transfiguration: A Glimpse of Heaven on Earth
(Excerpt from Transformed by the Messiah, page 129)
“But don’t miss this! The transfiguration does not just reveal what is true of Jesus—it foreshadows your destiny! What is true with Him is also true of you. One day the Messiah will return, and you will be utterly changed so that your outer form will match your inner reality. Romans 8:18 and 30 say it this way: ‘I consider the sufferings of this present time not worthy to be compared with the coming glory to be revealed in us. . . . Those whom He predestined, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified; and those whom He justified, He also glorified’ (emphasis added).
"It has been an incredible privilege to be a part of the Launch team of Transformed By The Messiah, @rabbijasonsobel latest book. So many gems and mysteries intertwined in the promise and fulfillment of Jesus. The reminder I needed in this season of my life. Thank you Rabbi for the wisdom and knowledge shared in this book- a treasure indeed"
A day is coming when we too will be fully clothed in glory. Think of it—the day Yeshua returns and inaugurates His kingdom in its fullness will be a day even greater than the best days Adam and Eve experienced in the garden of Eden because through Jesus our Messiah, what they lost is possible for us to regain!”
Seeing the Messiah as He Truly Is
The transfiguration is one of Scripture’s most astonishing moments. On that mountain, Yeshua’s face shines like the sun, His garments blaze with light, and Moses and Elijah appear beside Him — the Law and the Prophets bearing witness that everything they foretold is now being fulfilled.
For many of us, this scene can feel otherworldly, even inaccessible. Yet Transformed by the Messiah reminds us that this event is not only about His divine glory — it’s also a prophetic picture of our future transformation.
Rabbi Jason often says, “But wait, there’s more!” And that’s exactly the message of this passage. Yeshua’s transfiguration isn’t the end of the story — it’s the preview of what awaits every believer who is united with Him.
Transformation: From the Inside Out
Romans 8 tells us that God’s purpose for His people is to be “conformed to the image of His Son.” In other words, transformation isn’t optional; it’s our destiny. Just as Yeshua revealed on the mountain what was already true in His divine nature, one day our outer selves will reflect the glory already planted within us by His Spirit.
Think of it this way: at the transfiguration, Yeshua’s disciples saw what Adam was before the fall — clothed in light, walking in perfect communion with God. Through the Messiah, that same restoration becomes possible for us. What was lost in Eden will be regained, and more.
As Transformed by the Messiah explains, redemption doesn’t merely return us to what was — it brings us into something greater. The glory that will one day fill creation is the same glory that already resides in those who follow Him.
From Suffering to Glory
It’s no accident that the transfiguration follows Yeshua’s teaching on taking up the cross. In God’s kingdom, the path to glory always passes through surrender. As Paul writes, “I consider the sufferings of this present time not worthy to be compared with the glory to be revealed in us.”
This tension — between present suffering and future glory — defines the life of every disciple. But Rabbi Jason reminds us that our trials are not detours; they are divine appointments. The light we glimpse on the mountaintop sustains us in the valleys below.
Every hardship becomes part of God’s transforming process. Just as the Messiah’s path led through Gethsemane to resurrection, so our faith is refined until the image of Yeshua shines from within us.
Don’t Settle for Half an Inheritance
Too often, believers see salvation as a “ticket to heaven.” But as Rabbi Jason frequently says, “Don’t settle for half an inheritance.” Salvation is not just rescue from sin; it’s participation in God’s glory.
To live as a disciple of Yeshua is to live in anticipation of the full unveiling of His kingdom. Every act of faith, every moment of obedience, every hidden yes in our hearts is shaping us into His likeness.
The same power that transfigured Yeshua on the mountain is at work within you today. It’s the power that renews the mind, heals the heart, and transforms the way we love, serve, and see the world.
Connecting the Old and the New
What makes Transformed by the Messiah so powerful is how it helps us connect the Old and the New. The transfiguration didn’t happen in isolation; it stands at the crossroads of Israel’s story.
Moses represents the Torah, Elijah the Prophets, and Yeshua stands between them as the living Word, the embodiment of everything they pointed toward. The same cloud of glory that once filled the tabernacle now envelops the disciples. The same voice that thundered from Sinai now speaks from heaven: “This is My beloved Son. Listen to Him.”
The revelation is clear: the God who led Israel through the wilderness is the same God revealed in Yeshua on the mountain. The story has always been one.
The Promise of Future Glory
At Fusion Global, we believe the hope of future glory is not meant to make us passive — it’s meant to make us purposeful. Knowing where the story ends gives us the strength to live differently now.
One day, every tear will be wiped away. Every broken heart will be made whole. That’s not wishful thinking — it’s the fulfillment of God’s eternal plan.
When the Messiah returns, His kingdom will be fully established. The light that shone from His face on that mountain will fill all creation. Until then, our calling is to reflect that light wherever we go and to be living previews of the glory that’s coming.
Transformed by His Life
Transformed by the Messiah reveals that the life of Yeshua is more than an example — it’s an impartation. He didn’t just show us how to live; He gave us His Spirit so we could live that way.
When we walk in His footsteps, we begin to taste the glory that will one day be revealed. Every moment of obedience, every act of love, every step of faith becomes part of His ongoing story of redemption.
The Transfiguration reminds us that transformation is not only possible, but also promised.
